A free Saturday assessment at the Apollo Hotel, Edgbaston. It is not a timed test paper. We sample all four 11+ subjects — English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning — to find your child’s strengths and gaps. We look at more than scores: we measure their potential to improve to grammar school entrance level, then give you an honest answer.
Next assessment dates: Saturday 10 October, Saturday 17 October, then Saturday 7 November (no sessions over half-term).

Classes already running — your child can still join
- Year 5: the 11+ is next September. Weekly Saturday sessions in Edgbaston, three live online evenings (English, Maths & NVR, Verbal Reasoning) and holiday intensives.
- Year 4: Saturday sessions plus online Maths and English & VR — two steady years to prepare.
- Year 3: English and Maths foundations on Saturdays, a calm three-year start.
- Joining mid-year? We give catch-up for the sessions your child has missed, so they start level with the group.
- Maximum 8 children per tutor on Saturdays. Free parking at the Apollo Hotel, Hagley Road.
Where you live can change the score your child needs
Each King Edward VI grammar school fills its places category by category, and children who live in its catchment and reach the priority score are placed before everyone else. In 2026 entry, in-catchment children on the 224 priority score were offered places at Camp Hill, even though the open-category cut-off was 255. At Five Ways, distance mattered even within catchment. Scores and cut-offs change every year.
